Tai Po Level 5 Fire – Post-Disaster Support Fund for End-Stage Kidney Disease Patients.
The Hong Kong Kidney Foundation, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology and the Hong Kong Association of Renal Nurses established the “Tai Po Level 5 Fire – Post-Disaster Support Fund for End-Stage Kidney Disease Patients” on 28 November 2025. The fund is to provide emergency financial assistance to patients on dialysis or with kidney transplant affected by the fire.
On 1 December 2025, for an immediate point-to-point (patient) support for the patients, HK$200,000 was distributed to 10 affected patients.
On 3 December 2025, the fundraising appeal was closed on raising HK$1,000,000. The appeal was well supported by the renal community in Hong Kong (healthcare professionals and industries, patients) and kind-hearted Hong Kong citizens.
On 8 December 2025, the HK$1 million donation (without any deduction for administration cost) was distributed among the 10 patients, proportionally to support their renal replacement therapy, including the cost of re-setting up the home peritoneal dialysis, haemodialysis fee, medications and follow-up appointments for the coming 24 months.
We join hands to support the kidney patients to overcome their difficulties and to restart their living.
